The battle of Marchfeld (or Druknut) was one of the most decisive battle of medieval times for the history of Central Europe, as it settled the Austrian Empire and left it to the Hapsburgs against the glorious claims of the King of Bohemia, Ottokar. It was a battle of cavalry, one the greatest clash of armor of the period, and it was well balanced and almost on the edge for most of the time, before the Imperials gained the upper hand, thanks to the very important aid of their Hungarian allies (especially the fierce Cumans). |
