“Crassus in Aquitanina” is based on Scenario 4 from the board game “Caesar in Gaul”, available from The game system evolved from “Caesar's Legions” but has been highly modified. Stacking is unlimited and combat is resolved inside a hex using a battle-board system. There are special rules for: forts, sieges, artillery, ambushes, concealed forces, retreat before combat, cavalry charges, desertion, force marching, leaders and much more. The game has tremendous replay value as setup locations, setup forces, and tribal recruitment are all variable. The windows interface is a much improved version of “The Fall of Idi Amin: Last King of Scotland” interface with grab and drag scrolling, much better resizing behavior, and plenty of online help to get you started.

John Theissen 8 7 8 Simple, quick play game. Basic graphics. Variable random armies in each game makes for good for replay. Would like to see this game platform extended to other Gaul campaign scenarios.
